"Building a community where disabilities cease to exist"
Nehemiah H. Lamb, the Founder of Unique Individual Inc., was born and raised in Atlanta, GA.
Growing up, Mr. Lamb had his first experience working with children in church. Mr. Lamb had the opportunity to become an assistant Sunday school teacher in a Pre-K class and later became a game leader on Wednesday nights for the youth. While in High School and during College, Mr. Lamb worked at the YMCA as a lifeguard, swim instructor, summer camp counselor, after school counselor, assistant site director and site director, which increased his passion for working with children.
After graduating from High School, he attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. While attending the university, he was on the men’s basketball and tennis teams. Mr. Lamb graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in Construction Management.
After graduating college Mr. Lamb returned to Atlanta and found during his search for a full time position that the construction and engineering industry was collapsing. Mr. Lamb continued to work at the YMCA as a lifeguard and after-school counselor, and when a position for the Children Services Director became available Mr. Lamb was encouraged by a mentor to interview for it. Mr Lamb was offered and accepted the position In February of 2010. In this role Mr. Lamb was responsible for managing the summer camp which served over 400 children per week and assisting in managing the after school program which served over 500 children daily.
In the fall of 2014, Mr. Lamb was promoted to Childcare Director managing a 2.1 million dollar multi-department budget.
While serving at the YMCA in a Director position, Mr. Lamb saw that there was a great need in the community for children who had disabilities. After working hard to incorporate inclusive programs for Special Needs children at the YMCA, Mr. Lamb felt that it was not enough. Mr. Lamb felt a calling from God to pursue enriching the lives of disabled children by offering quality services. He found the answer through opening an organization which provides childcare that focuses on developing self worth, cultivating positive social interaction, and promoting community inclusion.
In the spring of 2013, Mr. Lamb founded Unique Individual, Inc.
In October 2015, Mr. Lamb resigned from the YMCA and began his work full-time with Unique Individual. The motto for U.I is “Building a community where disabilities cease to exist." Mr. Lamb's passion for the special needs community has grown and his goal is to provide the best quality and unique services that will impact children with special needs in Georgia and expand in the South.
